With world resources dwindling and an ever-growing population
especially on the continent of Africa, it is our mission to guarantee food
availability for all. We know the cliche of “eliminating global food insecurity.” But the problem is very real, and we must bring solutions to it. We are already at the border of the potential for food production using traditional methods, and a change in the situation is needed, certainly when according to the UN, humanity loses about 40% of the various crops to pests and diseases.
By reducing crop yield losses and delivering advanced analytics to the farmers, AirSmat Inc plans to solve the challenges mentioned above. Starting with Africa, we aim to evolve the global agriculture sector so that it can support future generations. There is a vast market opportunity in bringing state-of-the-art technologies to one of the two least digitized industry in the world.
Our solution is based on the observation and measurement of environmental data to optimize crop production and minimize environmental impact. We use drones, satellite, IoT, and soil-level data to amass various data and then create a precise map, describing the chemical composition of the soil and the vegetation state of crops. Then our AI analyses the land and detects weeds, plant canopy, plant count and plant diseases. There is also agronomy, plant pathology and
physiology experts ready to give recommendations on how to irrigate, fertilize croplands.
Finally, our user receives call-to-action requests, which helps him to
make quick and data-driven decisions. AirSmat Inc is focused on helping farmers in Africa to adopt precision farming practice.
With over 1.2 billion people in Africa, we think AirSmat is positioned to make huge impact in helping farmers achieve bountiful yield with intelligence we share with them. We have worked extremely hard to build a functional AI powered AgTech application platform with focus on helping farm owners and farmers across the continent of Africa to eliminate guess work and drive day to day farm operations decision with precision. With drone, satellite, soil-level and IoT sensors, we are helping to transform the way farmers collect, manage, and interpret farm data.
As one direct help to farmers to increase yield, with our IoT sensors, we can help correct the in-balance in tomato output – For example, this is today 3-5 tons per hectare in Nigeria as against global return of 25 – 30 tons per hectare. The difference is due to farmers not using data near real-time to make informed decisions.
Today, AirSmat is active among farmers in Nigeria, with plans for continued expansion around Africa.
